Unlike my two friends, I had not been a huge yogi. Yoga is something I have done on and off for about twenty years, but I spent most of my time playing tennis, pickleball and some light running. I’ve mostly done yoga socially, if you will, brought by a friend or as part of a larger group. So when the idea of opening a yoga studio was floated, as skeptical as I was, I’m usually up for a challenge. Most importantly, I am always ready to bet on myself.
A key part of our mission at MYC is to “replenish your mind, body and spirit through the practice of yoga so you may be present and pay that forward to others.” I really love this piece because as mothers, so many of us are constantly giving and struggling to receive equally. My personal mission for MYC is to help people find their reciprocity – giving themselves to us and their practice, and we give back to our students through peace, self-development and true community.
Establishing, shaping and growing our yoga studio is one of the greatest accomplishments of this season of my life. My connection to our Matthews community has grown and so have my precious friendships. MYC is poised for growth and we welcome all who are ready to take the journey with us.
